Camp Awful is located on Oseetah Lake along the Saranac River. Oseetah Lake is also known as Miller Pond to the local fishermen. The Camp has been in the family since the 1950's.  As kids during a long work week in the 70's we gave the camp it's name, "Camp Awful". The original sign was made from the back of a broken chair using a toothbrush as a paint brush. It hung from a birch tree in front of the camp for the next 30 years. In 2003 during reconstruction a new sign was made from the cutout for the sink in the countertop. The home page shows one of the older photos of the camp resting on a foundation of rocks and birch trees. In the late 70's a series of improvements were made to the camp. We crawled underneath the camp and filled wheel barrels with dirt making way for a new foundation of block, wood siding was added to keep the bears out, and later on an addition that doubled the camp in size. In 2000 the original section of camp was torn down and over the next few years a two story cabin was erected in it's place. Over the years different family members have taken over 8,000 photographs in and around the Adirondack's. The old photographs have been scanned and combined with the new digital ones into 50+ categories. This webpage was started in July of 2007 and as time permits I am adding new categories of photos and improving the site. Check back often, I hope to add some more stories and notes to go along with the photos.
